From a gentle stroll through the woods to a challenging workout with lots of hills, there are so many ways to enjoy nature and so many great places to begin close to home. What is the appropriate clothing to wear? What equipment should you bring with you? The AMC will lead you in choosing your adventure, and guide you with tips on what steps to take. Plan your next adventure and Learn the principles of Leave No Trace and the importance of protecting nature for all its inhabitants. Bill Cannon has been active with the Appalachian Mountain Club since 2012. He was the Conservation Chair for the Southeastern Mass. Chapter for 3 years and now holds the Vice Chair position. He also regularly leads hikes including a Full Moon series at Borderland State Park in the fall and winter and an evening series of hikes at the Blue Hills in the spring and summer. Bill’s love of nature began as a child and motivated his active participation in Cub Scouts when his children were young. He enjoys hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. And he especially loves to go camping with his wife Regina in their 1978 VW Westfalia Camper Bus. Sue Svelnis is the Education Chair as well as a local hike leader for the Southeastern Mass. Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club. Although a South Shore native, she had no idea there were so many great local hiking spots until she joined the AMC in 2014. She has also come to appreciate hiking in all four New England seasons. Sue hikes regularly with her dog, Danny Boy and also volunteers walking dogs for the Quincy Animal Shelter.
